This is the road between Akureyri and Dalvik, in North Iceland. It's a region surrounded by fjords, mountains, and amazingly beautiful country towns. After a day spent exploring Grimsey Island and the (small) regions of Iceland north of the Arctic circle, we set out in search of a location from which to photograph sunset. The location of choice was the town of Dalvik and the little harbour in the town, but I think I actually preferred this bridge and river that we stopped at along way a little more.
This was sunset, photographed at 11:41pm on last year's summer solstice - June 21st, 2013. I love how the sun dances around the horizon here such that it'll never actually get dark.
